Designing Elegance at The Chedi Andermatt

Designing for a place like The Chedi Andermatt is about creating presence. Under the helm of KahnSwienty, I approached this project with a specific fusion in mind: French elegance, Alpine ruggedness, and Japanese precision - mirroring the hotel’s distinct interior and spirit. Set at 1,444 meters in the Swiss Alps, The Chedi is an architectural landmark - where Asian-inspired calm meets European luxury.

The interior concept by Jean-Michel Gathy shapes the atmosphere throughout. The colour palette focuses on one tone: Cassis. Deep, rich, unexpected. Combined with sharp black and white shirting, it anchors the collection in modernity. For the valets’ jackets, I took cues from the mountain adventurist drivers and bikers. Strong, practical, with just the right edge.

In winter, the men wear a roll neck in the same Cassis tone, keeping the look cohesive and refined.

The women wear slightly A-line dresses with rounded, padded collars - soft structure with character. There’s ease, but intention in every line. Every role in a hotel speaks its own language. My work is to design that voice into clothing - without noise, without excess. Just clarity, elegance, and relevance.
